Thank you for helping me remember this…
I had the best day yesterday! First, any time I’m with Geno is my favorite day! But I also met with someone and now have progress and a new friend to help me along in my journey. We shared lunch and all kinds of conversation, ideas, pictures, thoughts…
I’m excited to see where this path takes me.
I don’t remember the exact words, I was too excited! But one thought we shared was about self-publishing. And the whole thing came down to: The writers he has read that he likes the best seem to be self-published, and the reason was because the stories didn’t fit into a common/conventional box (my words). It’s a story that’s different, not the same thing that everyone else is writing. We talked about genre and when I told him that my stories don’t seem to fit into most of them, it was kind of like that was a good thing!
It IS my dream and I don’t want what I write to be just like everyone else, with different names for my characters and different descriptions of the locale. I don’t want to change it up too much, I’m not a 50 Shades of Gray writer. I couldn’t write some of that stuff I keep hearing about. I believe with each thing I do write you will see more growth from me. I see it from what I’ve already done and you (who have had a sneak peek of Rock and Roll) have told me the same thing. That’s my goal – get better with each word I write and to get those notes/txts from you that say things like ‘page 96 – I love this!’ or ‘I’m on page 176 and I didn’t see that coming!’ or ‘I read about… and I am crying.’. or my sweet husband telling me (with tears at the corners of his eyes) how proud he is of me, or that he ‘sees’ me on every page – if those things are the best I get, then they are the best! But we never know what lies around the corner…
It’s my dream…
If I don’t have an opportunity to see him again before this, we will meet again on 7/27.
What a blessing this whole journey has been…
Love to you, Barbara
