Today I am missing my mom – I do all the time, but today while everyone who is able, celebrates with theirs, there will be messages and commercials and such that will make me miss her a little more.
If you are blessed enough to still have your mom, give her an extra squeeze today because someone you know can’t.
Today, to honor my mom, Alis – I will write. You don’t know it, but she is on every page in some way, because I know she would read every word I write. She loved to read… she read anything she could get her hands on, much to our surprise at times. One quick story and then I will leave you for now.
My mom was curled into a wing-back chair that we had when I was younger; she had a paperback in her hands and was devouring the words on the page.
“What are you reading?” I asked her.
(She was from the south, so I will write it the way she said it, ha!) “It’s called BIG A, a book about that basketball player Lew Alcinder.”
“Who?”
“You know, the one who changed is name to kare-um abdula jabber.” (Kareem Adbul-Jabbar)
I miss her…
Enjoy your days…
Love, Barbara
